RAC Breakdown Insurance Cover: a popular choice

http://www.rac.co.uk/

Though it offers a range of services and products, the Royal Automobile Club is best known for its breakdown assistance. RAC breakdown cover is one of the most popular schemes in the UK.

RAC breakdown cover comes in various packages, but they all include provisions for onward travel (available 24 hours after you take out the insurance), a no call-out discount, repair referrals and advice including a preliminary assessment of liability in the event of an accident. The accident care also includes a like-for-like replacement vehicle if you are not liable for the accident, and legal advice no matter whose fault it was. They also offer travel breakdown cover. That’s well worth taking out if you are planning to drive your car abroad, not least because if the car had to be brought back to the UK it could be very expensive.
RAC Breakdown Cover: the individual, not the car

For more information about the RAC breakdown cover and other services, visit the website at www.rac.co.uk. You can get an online quote there, plus journey planners and lots of travel information including advice on driving in Europe. Before deciding on any insurance, however, it’s always important to compare as many policies and premiums as you can. The RAC, like its old rival the AA, insures the individual and not the car.

In March 2005 it was announced that subject to shareholder approval the RAC, which has seven million members and is over 100 years old, was to be bought by the massive financial group Aviva with the likelihood of significant job cuts. You can read a statement about the takeover on the website. Aviva also owns Norwich Union, which in turn underwrites the insurance policies of many other providers.
